[dɔm-], Jan Henryk, polnischer General, * Pierzchowce (bei Krakau) 2. (oder 29.) 8. 1755, ✝ Winnogóra (bei Posen) 6. 6. 1818; polnischer Nationalheld; nahm 1794 am Aufstand T. Kościuszkos teil und stellte nach der 3. Polnischen Teilung (1795) 1797 in Oberitalien die bis 1801 bestehenden Polnischen Legionen auf, die im Dienst Napoleon Bonapartes für die Wiederherstellung der staatlichen Souveränität Polens kämpfen wollten. Für diese Legionen schrieb J. Wybicki 1797 den Dąbrowski gewidmeten »Mazurek Dąbrowskiego«, die spätere polnische Nationalhymne, mit den Eingangsworten »Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła« (»Noch ist Polen nicht verloren«).
